The world is dealt some harsh blows as reported on the front pages; but turn to the sport pages and things do seem rosier!
Since the start of the fall season I have had the privilege of watching hundreds of student athletes, coaches, parents, officials and fans all over Rhode Island share in the excitement of varsity high
school sports. For less than five dollars a fan can park, enjoy a burger and drink from the snack bar and catch the thrill of a sporting event. The best part of it all is that the autographs are free! (I
probably let out the best kept secret in Rhode Island!)
Just Playin' sport™ Magazine is a vision that I have shared with many people in our community. My mission is to recognize as many of
the 10,000 athletes playing varsity high school sports per season who are exhibiting the value of discipline, commitment and teamwork, in all divisions, among private and public schools in Rhode Island.
As you look at the photographs throughout the publication, you will see the fortitude shared by all of the teens participating in their chosen sport. Good genes and hard work produce superstars. Good
character, self discipline and determination produce winners.
Congratulations to all of the student athletes that showed up for tryouts on August 21st, practiced with the team, sweat and sweat
some more, participated in the games, sat on the bench and waited their turn, encouraged teammates, crossed the finish line and showed good sportsmanship … this publication is for you and will only get better!
It is apparent to me that my vision has been embraced by the community. Enjoy the first issue of Just Playin' sport™ Magazine. In keeping with my mission to recognize more athletes, coaches,
